Bomba #7

Bomba #7 (On Sale: July 16, 1968) has on this, its final issue, another interesting piece by Jack Sparling. One gets the feeling with these last few Bomba covers that Sparling had free-reign to do whatever he wanted and they just squeezed in the logo wherever they could.

"Nightmare" is the name of this story by Denny O'Neil and Jack Sparling. That's about all I know. Unlike Blackhawk, which was also scheduled for cancellation when Giordano was handed the reigns, Dick didn't seem all that interested in spending much time on this book.

Bomba the Jungle Boy #6 (On Sale: May 16, 1968) has a kinda cool cover by Jack Sparling. This issue gets a new logo as editor Dick Giordano tries to save this struggling book.

Inside we have (Krag) by Denny O'Neil and Jack Sparling. This is O'Neil's first full script for DC coming over from Charlton with Giordano. Denny O'Neil would become one of DC's premiere writers.

"Tampu Lives -- Bomba Dies" is by George Kashdan and Jack Sparling. Though fired as an editor, Kashdan would write for DC for another decade and more.

Bomba the Jungle Boy #3 (On Sale: November 21, 1967) has a fairly creepy cover by new Bomba artist Jack Sparling.

Inside we have "My Enemy... the Jungle" written by George Kashdan and drawn by Jack Sparling. Sparling had done a string of Eclipso stories in House of Secrets and some sci-fi stuff in Strange Adventures and would soon be moving on to Plastic Man and Green Lantern. This story was reprinted in Tarzan #231.

Bomba the Jungle Boy #2 (On Sale: September 12, 1967) has a cover by the Blackhawk team of Dick Dillin and Charles Cuidera.

Inside we have "The Phantom City of Death" written by George Kashdan and drawn once again by Leo Sommers. The first few issues of this series were Sommers' only work for DC.
