PREVIEW: Astonishing X-Men #36 by Daniel Way and Jason Pearson

Let's face it, Jason Pearson on X-Men is reason enough to do a double-take, but this wrap around cover is poster material...

 anyways, here's the sales pitch:
“MONSTROUS,” PART 1
Not all monsters are easy to spot -- some of them live among us, undetected or long forgotten. Some of them live inside us, in the dark corners of our hearts, feeding on our secret fears of loss. But in the Marvel Universe, most of them live on Monster Island. Or, at least, they did. A mysterious exodus is underway; monsters spilling onto nearby shores – with catastrophic results – and it falls upon a small group of X-Men to both save the population from destruction and to solve an imposing riddle: What are monsters afraid of? New series writer Daniel Way (Deadpool, Uncanny X-force) is joined by superstar artist Jason Pearson (Body Bags)to bring you a widescreen, mega blockbuster story filled with classic Kirby monsters, heart-stopping revelations and over-the-top action!

Ouch... yeah, I don't know why Cyclops thinks this girl's power is any less offensive than Wolverine's or Collossus. Super-strength and body armor makes for pretty good combatant... just needs training and the right motivation, as this preview shows! This looks pretty good, but Emma looks like a vampire... not sure if I like that or not yet. Don't know if I've ever seen Pearson under an inker before... Looks a lot less Pearsony... but Pearson and Karl Story is a nice art combo too! Anyways, this will be in stores on February 23rd, so be advised.

PREVIEW: Klaws of the Panther #2

Here's a preview of Shuri the Black Panther fighting against Klaw, the Master of Sound. In addition to guest appearances from Ka-Zar and Shanna the She-devil, looks like Marvel's busiest mutant will poke his head (and claws) into issue #2 of Klaws of the Panther as well...

Here's the Sales Pitch
Klaw, Master of Sound, is no more dead than he is human. The killer composed of living sound is back with a new and deadly plan that will spill blood from the Savage Land to the streets of New York. Shuri, the new Black Panther, has already tried (and failed) to stop this monster –a defeat that owed as much to her own reckless rage than it does to Klaw’s power. So, Shuri turns to the person who knows more about battling inner rage than anyone. If you think you know the Black Panther –you don’t. So don’t miss this installment of NY Times bestseller Jonathan Maberry’s exciting new series.

Klaws of the Panther #2 hits stands October 27th

Puh-puh-puh-puh-puh POWER(man)!

Okay, maybe it's just me, but this whole New Avengers preview had me cracking up because it reminds me of the Old Spice Bodywash commercials with Terry Crews (Idiocracy, Balls of Fury, Everybody Hates Chris, Are We There Yet, The Expendables) kicking buildings, flexing his pecs and hollering for comedic value. Sometimes they make me laugh and sometimes I'm offended by them... just depends on the mood I'm in. Anyways, peep the preview (and one of the Old Spice commercials) below

"THE EYE OF AGAMOTTO IS AS POWERFUL AS ME!!! BLOCK! BLOCK! KICK! EXPLOSIOOOOOOOOOOON!!!!!!!!" okay, so I know Tyrese wants to play Luke Cage, but Brian Michael Bendis and Stuart Immomen have clearly put in their vote for Terry Crews with this issue. Make it Happen Hollywood!
anyways, New Avengers #2 will be at your local comic shop on July 21st.

P-P-P-P-POWER!!!
