3 Reasons why YOU need to buy Dark Horse Presents #2

I didn't buy the first issue of Dark Horse Presents that featured the debut of new multi-part serials by Neal Adams (his cover art on the left) and Richard Corben (two creators I've loved for decades), and an interview and sneak peak at Frank Miller's prequel comic (soon to be movie) Xerxes... but I still have a few REALLY good reasons why I GOTTA cop #2, and frankly, you should too...

#1) Sanford Greene's new joint Rotten Apple debuts... If you haven't been following Sanford Greene's work since the LedHeavy days, let me just say, Sanford Greene is the name you can trust, fammo... but you don't hear me, so peep:

I'm sorry, that's dope... but anyways here's the other thing
#2) Robert Love and David Walker's sci-fi opus Number 13 makes it's long-awaited debut in the issue. I mean, it opens with the words "Sixty Years after the world ended"... What does it take to impress you people?!?! But seriously, Robert Love and David Walker already blessed me with enough dope stuff to earn my respect, and with this AND the return of Blind Monkey Style on the horizon they're gonna make you love them like Lauryn an'nem... whether you're ready or not.
#3- Jim mothereffing Steranko's groundbreaking graphic novel Red Tide is being re-issued, and DHP #2 will have a 13 page preview, plus an interview with the comics heavyweight. I have never had a chance to read Red Tide, so the news that it was being reissued was welcome. So I'm in there, fammo...
HONORABLE MENTION: here's some other shit that's in the issue.

so yeah, Dark Horse Presents #2 hits stores June 22nd. Cop it!

Robert Love to drop new Sketchbook and debut his sci-fi comic "Number 13" in DHP!

Underground comics phemom Robert Love (Chocolate Thunder, Blind Monkey Style, Fierce) leaked the cover to his new sketchbook, The Hive...

Love will have the 52 page black and white sketchbooks available for just $6 at Emerald City Con, which takes place March 4th-6th in Seattle. If you still haven't bought Blind Monkey Style, I'm sure he'll have copies of that on hand as well. He is also working on a full color art book for the summer.
Now is definitely a good time to get in on the Love train, since it's been announced that Dark Horse will debut his creepy/ awesome/ futuristic sci-fi comic Number 13 in the second issue of its Dark Horse Presents relaunch. I can only hope this brings more fan attention to Love and his Number 13 and Blind Monkey collaborator David Walker (BadAzz Mofo). Here's some preview art from Number 13 I found on the internet...

anyways, I've been a fan of Robert Love for a long time, so it's good to see his hard work bearing fruit! For more of my writing about Robert's work, click here. You can also follow his blog here.
[EDIT:you can preorder that Sketchbook HERE for just $7!]

Ghettosake returns with "Blind Monkey Style"

It's been a long time coming, but Robert Love (Chocolate Thunder, Fierce, 13) and David Walker (BadAzz Mofo) are back with their martial arts revenge comic Kenji: Master of the Blind Monkey Style (previously printed as part of Image's Popgun anthology series) which is available for you to purchase as a full color stand-alone comic. Kenji serves as a prologue to the upcoming miniseries The Blind Monkey Style... I got preview art below, fam.
here's the sales pitch:
In a decaying urban wasteland, martial arts and magic are the weapons of choice in an on-going epic battle between the forces of good and evil. Traveling through this world on mission of vengeance is Kenji, a young man robbed of his vision when he was a child, and now blessed with the mystical power of the Blind Monkey. Determined to avenge the murder of his father, Kenji battles the forces of the evil Toad Master, uncovering along the way truths about his family that will forever change is perception of the world.

Kenji sets out on his journey by going to be to his fathers old neighborhood, only to discover it's not what it once was. He is confronted by the Jade Dragon, who has in her possession, a portion of his father's soul.

from the looks of these cover mock-ups, it won't be long before we get that mini, and their apparently planning more villains after the mini...

But I'm getting ahead of myself... you can click here to cop the 16-page prelude joint, and I'll keep my eyes peeled for that mini!
